Chelsea Joy Handler, born on February 25, 1975, in Livingston New Jersey, is the youngest of six children. Handler was among the youngest of six children. Handler was raised in a safe neighborhood and had a happy childhood. As she entered her twenties the Handler moved in Los Angeles in order to follow her dream of acting. Handler became an actress in order to provide for her. But, at just 21 years old, Handler decided to pursue the stand-up comic profession full time after she discovered her storytelling talents. Handler's first professional gig was as part of the all-female Oxygen TV cast in the comedy show with hidden cameras Girls Behaving unreasonably. It was in air from 2002 through 2005. Handler was then featured on other TV shows such as Weekends at the D.L., The Bernie Mac Show, The Practice and My Wife and Kids. Handler began her journey as a correspondent for The Tonight Show. Handler received her first big break in 2006, when she started producing her own TV show on E! the show was titled The Chelsea Show. The show ran for a total of two seasons. In the following year, Handler performed on the Comedy Central's Hour Stand-Up Comedy Tour in the United States. The stand-up shows she has performed have been shown on VH1, Comedy Central's Premium Blend and HBO. In 2010 it was announced that she would be hosting this year's MTV Video Music Awards. As a result, she was the only female host in history after Roseanne.
